Kate's Story

Nick and I met my first day at Oklahoma State University on August 17th, 2002 when he gallantly offered to show me around campus as an experienced third year student. We went on our first date for ice cream with a few chaperones because I wasn't yet sure about him, or being hundreds of miles from home. Soon I was smitten, then head over heels in love - and now thank whatever divine providence led me to Stillwater, OK.
Eleven years later, on September 7th, 2013, I sat at dinner surrounded by my family at the Washington Crossing Inn when I had the surprise of a lifetime. Nick came up behind me and proposed! I know the act should have been expected after so many years together, but it was perfect and everything I hoped for when I dared to hope about such things.
Now on August 31st, 2014 Nick and I will be married. I am in awe every day that we've been able to preserve the feelings we developed from our first encounter, and I do my best to remember we're some of the lucky few who have had the opportunity to grow up together. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life sharing new experiences with my once in a lifetime love.
Nick's Story

I first saw Kate as I walked out of the Willham dorms at Oklahoma State to take some freshmen to the President's welcome lunch. My eyes were immediately drawn past the mass of people to a beautiful blonde standing near a bus almost too far away to catch. Through fate, or some well placed shoves, the last two seats on the shuttle happened to be near this knockout newcomer. I sat down across from her, quickly became even more enraptured, and it seems we haven't been apart since.
I knew being together for eleven years meant I was going to have to pull out all the stops for my propsal. I texted my sister Jen one day and asked if she would go ring shopping with me. I knew what I was looking for and with her approval I bought the ring I was going to propose to Kate with. Now I had to begin the planning... I wanted Kate to be surrounded by her family when I proposed because I know how precious the time spent with them is. Luckily, Kate would be flying back to Pennsylvania for her sister Joanne's baby shower. I called Joanne and Kate's twin sister, Lindsay, after asking her Father's permission, and the plan was hatched. On September 7th I flew to Pennsylvania and anxiously awaited the moment I would walk out and ask Kate to marry me. As I walked through the gardens of the Washington Crossing Inn, I couldn't help but think of all the amazing memories Kate and I have shared as a couple. Hopeful about this next phase of our journey, I knelt down on one knee and asked Kate Virginia Hoback to marry me. She made my life by saying yes and on August 31st, 2014 we will become Husband & Wife!
